Pablo Cardona Music
Pablo brings together traditional styles of music from all over the western hemisphere. His repertoire is filled with charming melodies of the first half of the 20th century, from an ever expanding list of places such as France, USA, Mexico, Brazil and more, always keeping as his highest priority maintaining their authenticity.
Pablo Cardona was born in the USA and raised in Colombia. His melomaniac household comprised by a violinist father and a pianist mother determined before birth that music would reside within his heart. He began classical piano at a young age under his mother's instruction and music theory with his father. In his teenage years he began exploring various instruments and contemporary styles, but couldn't find what he was looking for and almost decided to leave music behind.
This changed when traditional Brazilian music made an appearance in his life thanks to a teacher of his, and having moved back to Florida he met a few Brazilians who helped solidify his exposure to their culture. Inspired by musicians like Tom Jobim, Joao Gilberto and Carlos Lyra, he would spend lonely evenings quietly exploring their entrancing songs on his guitar, wondering if he could someday be part of the stories nested in these chords, and perhaps write something as wonderful.
Bio
Despite the cultural differences among these styles, a pattern was clear in all of them. No matter the place or the language, all the songs from around this time share a common message: they manifest with honesty the human desire to love and to be loved, in a way that he sees lacking today. That personal discovery would not have happened if brazilian music had not opened his heart in this manner.
As a sort of gratitude letter, he poured his heart out in the form of a comment on a video of a renowned Brazilian tune, with very rough portuguese he expressed his appreciation and passion for the country’s musical heritage, and due to the great reception of the comment, he managed to make some long distance friendships. Unexpectedly there was among these, a girl he would bond with like no other, who felt similarly about music and the modern world, and the two of them would eventually fall in love.
His desire to find traditional music from other places increased with this experience. How many hidden gems exist in cultures around the world? He decided to go back to Colombia once more to explore what it had to offer, and soon enough the beauty of the traditional music scattered all throughout South America reached his ears. He found liking on various styles such as boleros, tangos, pasillo, joropo, salsa and much more.
Years later, back in the USA, he fell in love with jazz from the golden era in the style of Louis Armstrong,
Nat King Cole, Billy Holiday and most notably, the guitarist Django Reinhardt, whose music legacy has been his main area of study and has led him to seek the mentoring of one of the main exponents of Reinhardt's tradition today, the great Tcha Limberger, whose instruction and influence have been fundamental in Pablo's journey.
In his first year as an adult, he took a leap of faith. Trusting the path that music had laid out for him, he got a ticket to Brazil to meet her. The wonderful time and memories they have formed together to this day would forever change his insight about how music can influence people's lives. It was the realization that if he can be part of the stories embedded in these beautiful songs, then everyone could. And whose heart does not desire all the warmth and joy that love can bring?
So he embarked on a journey to share the heartwarming beauty of these tunes: they are touching not only because they present us with our vulnerability, but also inspire within us the courage to trust and to love, emotions with a depth and intensity of such value that should not be forgotten.
Pablo wants to encourage people, through his music, to listen to their heart, allow it to dream, and follow the virtuous path it lays out for them.
